On Thursday, May 27th we will perform a silentfilm-concert for F.W. Murnau’s “The Last Laugh” (1924). The concert takes place as part of the “Music of our Times” (“Musik unserer Zeit”) festival, by the Musikhochschule Münster.

The opening night begins thursday night at 7:30pm. After a break Anja Kreysing and Kai Niggemann will perform a live-score to the movie with electronics, accordeon and electric bass (and give a taste of the next Resonator-album, to be released in October 2010)

About the movie:

Resonator, with their mixture of accordeon, electronics and electric bass take on the film “The Last Laugh” (“Der Letzte Mann”) by F.W. Murnau (of Nosferatu-fame), made in 1924:  The doorman for a famous hotel (played by Emil Jannings), is demoted to washroom (bathroom) attendant, as he is considered too old and infirm to be the image of the hotel. He tries to conceal his demotion from his friends and family, but to his shame, he is discovered. His friends, thinking he has lied to them all along about his prestigious job, taunt him mercilessly while his family rejects him out of shame… (text: wikipedia.org)
